Q. Tell us why Power Rotary Scissors has become a staple in your mowing operations.

The main reason is that it is a safe product, but we also believe that “workability,” “maintainability,” and “durability” are the reasons for its continuous use over the past three years. If any one of these factors were lacking, we would have received complaints from the field.

　As for workability, there were certainly complaints about the “heavy weight,” but this was alleviated by placing the machine on the ground, allowing the operator to work stably. As for the cost, which was a concern when we first introduced the system, we were able to reduce the scope of application of the protective nets, which resulted in a reduction of labor costs, and the total cost is not significantly different from the pre-introduction cost.

With regard to maintainability, we like the ease of replacing the blade and other parts. We mow more than 300 hours a year, so we have to remove the mowing blade more often to replace the grinder. Calmar is very easy to install and remove the mowing blade; it takes only 30 seconds to change it, so there is no stress. Although we usually use this product without thinking about it, we feel that the product is manufactured from the operator’s point of view.

　As for durability, the gears of the calipers sometimes wear out and parts need to be replaced because the work site is very demanding. The parts replacement itself is not difficult, and we can purchase only the necessary parts and replace them ourselves, keeping costs to a minimum in the event of a breakdown.
